I started the Project Management Certificate program a few months after becoming a new mother and being down-size from my job in Event and Meeting Management. I’d heard so much about Project Management, and decided to take the Certificate Program and begin a change in careers. Since beginning the program, I have started my own business and have been offered a great job that has been developed to best utilize my skills and strengths. Taking the PM Certificate program has given me the credibility, tools, knowledge and confidence I needed to launch a new career in Project Management. Donette Murphy and Michael Van Dyke are excellent teachers and coaches for anyone trying to change careers or enhance their own skills in Project Management. The NVCC Project Management classes were a great help in my career and in my ability to pass the PMP (Project Management Professional) exam with confidence. The classes were tailored around information contained within the PMI's
(Project Management Institute) PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) and taught in a straightforward easy to understand way that actually related to my day to day business activities. This made the information much more fun to learn and meant that I could actually take back what I learned and use it at my company. Additionally the time spent in the classroom also counted toward the 35 training hours required to take the PMP exam, and although these classes were not designed specifically to help you take the PMP test there were at least 25 questions that I was able to answer immediate having recalled the information I learned in the classroom. I would recommend these classes to new and experienced project managers alike who are looking to gain more insight and knowledge into the project management standards and practices of today.
